Estadão Newspaper - Project 16%
84% of all streets of São Paulo that honor people in their name refer to men.
So on the city’s anniversary, instead of celebrating, we decided to expose this gender disparity.
We’ve created a website, in which people could vote and nominate women who deserve to be honored in São Paulo’s streets.
We gathered a database with those Brazilian women and compiled it into a document.
On March 8th, International Women’s Day, we hand held it to the politicians responsible for naming streets.
Three law projects were created to change street names because of project 16%.
